Earl’s First Rains Reach Outer Banks
The first rains from Hurricane Earl began to reach the Outer Banks Thursday evening. WXII 12 Meteorologist Brian Slocum reported strong wind gusts and some rain in Kill Devil Hills.
Mandatory evacuations were issued Wednesday and early Thursday for visitors and some residents of nearly all of the Outer Banks on 100 miles of shoreline.
Still, throngs of people roamed the streets and beaches of Kill Devil Hills on Thursday.
Most businesses were still open and showed no signs of closing up shop despite the fast approach of Earl’s powerful winds. Mandatory evacuations were issued Wednesday and early Thursday for visitors and some residents of nearly all of the Outer Banks on 100 miles of shoreline.
